The 14 councils in mainland Hampshire are being reorganised into a smaller number of new councils. The statutory process for this is outlined in the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 and any relevant Statutory Orders issued by the Secretary of State.

To support public awareness and engagement with this programme, Hampshire County Council has been appointed by the existing councils affected by local government reorganisation ("participating councils") to develop and operate the Future Hampshire website on behalf of the whole programme.

The participating councils are Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, East Hampshire District Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, Fareham Borough Council, Gosport Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Hart District Council, Havant Borough Council, New Forest District Council, Portsmouth City Council, Rushmoor Borough Council, Southampton City Council, Test Valley Borough Council and Winchester City Council.

To prepare for and implement these changes, participating councils will need to share service data (including personal and special category data) amongst themselves, and with the new successor and shadow authorities. The lawful basis for sharing is that it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or necessary for reasons of substantial public interest.

The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 require organisations to keep personal information secure and only use it in accordance with data protection legislation.

This privacy notice explains how Hampshire County Council, on behalf of all participating councils, uses and protects any personal information collected through the Future Hampshire website.

We ensure that any personal information collected through the Future Hampshire website is processed in accordance with data protection legislation.

Where additional services or functionality are introduced to the website which involve the collection of personal information, a more specific privacy notice may be provided.

Future Hampshire is a joint website produced on behalf of the councils participating in the Hampshire local government reorganisation programme (Hampshire County Council, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, East Hampshire District Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, Fareham Borough Council, Gosport Borough Council, Hart District Council, Havant Borough Council, New Forest District Council, Portsmouth City Council, Rushmoor Borough Council, Southampton City Council, Test Valley Borough Council, Winchester City Council).

Hampshire County Council is responsible for operating, hosting and administering the website and is the data controller for personal information processed through the operation of the website, including website analytics, cookies, security monitoring and technical logs.

Participating councils may receive aggregated information about website usage to support programme reporting and communications planning. They do not have access to personal data collected through the routine operation of the website.

We collect and use limited information through the Future Hampshire website to:
