Joint committees: Working together during the transition

Four joint committees are being established to support Hampshire's reorganisation to four new mainland unitary councils.

Each joint committee will represent one of the future unitary councils and include councillors from the current councils in that area.

The joint committees will oversee the early stages of the reorganisation programme and are responsible for:

  • Planning the transition.
  • Agreeing how the programme will be managed.
  • Overseeing the teams delivering the work.
  • Monitoring progress and keeping preparations on track.

They will continue in this role until responsibility passes to the new unitary councils in May 2027.

On this page, you will find the agendas, reports and recordings for each of the joint committee meetings. The first meeting is set to take place in September 2026.
