Supporting Hampshire’s businesses, economy and communities

Businesses play an important role in supporting local communities and economic growth across Hampshire. One of the aims of local government reorganisation (LGR) is to create a simpler system that makes it easier for you to understand who to contact and how to access services.

Bringing services and responsibilities together within a single council should help to create a more joined-up approach to service delivery. The intention is to make it easier for businesses to navigate local services and build stronger relationships with their local council.

What this means for your business

Businesses of all sizes make an important contribution to our economy and communities.

Throughout the local government reorganisation process, we will continue to work closely with businesses, voluntary organisations, public sector and other partners and provide clear, timely information to help you understand what changes are happening, and what they mean for your business.

Until April 2028, current councils will continue delivering services and supporting businesses. This includes services such as business support and advice, licensing, planning, environmental health and regulatory services.

You do not need to do anything just yet. You should continue to work with your current council(s) and access services in the usual way. Current arrangements will remain in place until any changes are formally introduced.
