Working together to support Hampshire’s communities

Strong partnerships are essential to providing services, supporting communities and improving outcomes for residents. As councils, we work with a wide range of partners such as the NHS, police (and the Police and Crime Commissioner), the fire and rescue service, voluntary and community organisations, education providers, housing partners and businesses, to help meet local people’s needs.

One of the aims of local government reorganisation is to create a simpler and more joined-up system for providing local services. Bringing services and responsibilities together under new unitary councils will help to support closer collaboration, make it easier to coordinate activity and maintain strong partnerships across Hampshire.

What this means for partners

Partnership working will continue to play an important role throughout the transition to the future councils and beyond. As the 14 current councils, we remain committed to working closely with all our partners to support residents, communities and businesses.

As plans develop, we will continue to engage with you to understand opportunities and challenges, share information and support a smooth transition into future arrangements. Existing partnerships, networks and ways of working will continue while we establish the future councils.

You do not need to do anything just yet. Current arrangements will remain in place until any changes are formally introduced. We will provide clear and timely information as we make decisions and future arrangements become clearer.
